Elizabeth Weger

GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

Elizabeth found the fitness community back in 2017 during the completion of her undergraduate degree at Ohio State. She completed barre, pilates, cycle, and strength training through Ohio State’s certification program. She is working on adding her RYT certification to the mix. Elizabeth is a Cleveland native but has found a home away from home in Pittsburgh after attending graduate school, where she obtained her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.

“As an acute care occupational therapist, I am one of the first people to help somebody out of bed after a traumatic injury, surgery, or disease. I help people get back to their daily living routines and teach them new ways to complete tasks that are most meaningful to them. I use a holistic mindset to guide my practice not only as an OT but as an instructor as well. As somebody who recently broke several bones in their arm and underwent two major surgeries, I can truly understand the importance of rebuilding a foundation of strength to power daily life. My classes are adaptive and inclusive in nature and focus on building proximal stability to promote distal function."

Having a welcoming space to move no matter one’s ability is so important. Elizabeth’s doctoral capstone project focused on building an adaptive swim program for a Greater Pittsburgh YMCA. She is passionate about modifying and adapting skills to create a positive experience for clients. When she is not teaching, she enjoys the outdoors, reading, and exploring new places around Pittsburgh.
